1st March
Wind, rain and sunny spells. As usual.
54 visits.
Very long visits. This morning she stayed 25 minutes in the nest box. He started to wonder what she did.
She distributes the moss in half circles around her.
Around 17h the moss billful arrive. And she enters.
In the first images of the video she can be seen placing the moss.
2 mars
Still strong wind and rain this morning.
In the afternoon there are more sun spells. 51 visits.
Then, in late afternoon, weather overcasts. It rains. Last visit at 15h50 this afternoon. There will not be any night visit with moss billfuls.
He keeps watch on his favorite branch before a background on springtime rose leaves. We saw three titmice simultaneously, briefly. We see our small couple, then a third. At once he precipitates on the third titmouse, quickly accompanied by its female. And everyone leave the terrace.
In the nest she packs always the moss against the wall.
3 mars
The weather is better. Sunshine.
First visit at 8h. Only 25 visits, but some last up to 30 minutes.
She continues to bring moss in the evening. And he keeps watch and encourages her. He sings more and more. Even while eating, he tries to sing! Not easy. He lowers the head to eat and at once he raises it to sing and quickly returns to its food.
4 mars
Finally better weather. The morning with a beautiful sun, in the afternoon, large clouds arrive. No rain.
18 ° in the afternoon. 28 visits since 8h
this
morning. It is relatively low number, and there
where long
breaks without
titmice.
Nest build up goes on. On the day materials are packed and in late evening new moss is fetched starting at about 17h. The assumption about eased accessibility after 17h does not hold. It is Sunday and all seems quite calm in the streets and in the garden below. However she starts to bring the moss at about the same time.
Here is a pretty little skirt.

18h40, it still brings of foam. It begins to be dark. Probably her last visit. They spend the night elsewhere.
It is curious to notice that I have never seen the blue tits spend the night in the nesting box early in the season. She sleeps in the nest box just a little time before clutch. This is not the case of the great tits, which happen to come to sleep in the nesting boxes very early in the season. We don't know why.
5 mars
Clear and dry time. 47 visits until 17h50.
Curious, at 17h50, no new passage with moss. She spends always long time in the nesting box and often hung in top next to the cameras.
She always packs the moss and he stays singing next to nest box.
Packing the moss, she almost disappears under it!
No more concern! At 18h15 she brings again moss and very long dry grass blades.
On average, she brings materials two to three times in the evening. That seems not enough, it seems that the nest will never be finished, but from here the end March, that will make 70-75 extra moss tufts.
Where shall I pose it?
There in the rear, against the wall. And after, a little packing.
6 March
All day rainy. Very few activity. Only 14 visits, the latest at 18h36, when she brings a great hay stem.
Like in the first days, he tried to seduce her to go in the nest box. But she did not make up her mind today. They are right, the weather is too bad. Like in the first days, he goes in and then he goes out right away when she comes into.
So much rain!
A great tit and an olive-green greenfinch remained a few moments on the terrace.
Yesterday evening, a great tit sang in the birch. She sang a long moment, very gently, though the great tits are used to sing very loudly.
We see this great tit more often now; perhaps there is a nest under construction nearby.
7 mars
Beautiful day. 15°. 51 visits at 18h26.
He sang very prettily all the day. He goes in the box more often. After some hopping steps with lowered and quivering wings before her, he goes into the nest, immediately followed by her. And of course, he goes out right away.
This evening, she keeps bringing some grass or hay. Since some days, we do not see any moss.A view of the nest (at this hour, sunlight enters the box). All is packed in round, along the door inner wall. Several times, she spreads again the moss on the entire nest surface, and then she packs it anew with her body and wings.
It's 18h20, she brings a dry grass beakful.8 mars
Beautiful sun. 13°.
It's not easy to count the visits, she stays all the time in the nest box since 9h this morning, except occasionally when she goes out, lands on the nearest nest box branch, turns around and comes again into the nest box. It's 14h; from this morning she repeats the same actions. She moves the moss, she tamps it. Then she resumes her old work with the camera! We see her knock doggedly with her bill on the wires and we are worried. We are hoping that the device will hold. The camera moves, we can see it on the video pictures.

He stays near the nest box, he keeps watch. Sometimes he gets impatient
and takes a peek inside, but she does not allow him in. He
seems find that time passes slowly.
He alights on his favorite branch (it's also our favorite place, he is
gorgeous when he is alighted and rests so), he tidy up his feathers,
he takes a turn on the terrace, gnaws a seed and returns to the box.
Relaxed, on a leg, he just tidied up his feathers.
A great tit arrived on the terrace. Not a good idea! We witness a really great tit "terrace pursuit" by our two blues. The female went out of the nest box with full speed to assist him. They make zigzags through the entire terrace, the great tit, distraught takes the wrong direction, everyone near miss the window glass.
Finally she finds the good direction and escapes the "jail" terrace. Pity, but the cohabitation is difficult.
He is really angry.
Him, just after the race. Lowered wings, neck up, he is not yet appeased.
It's 14h30, he leaves for a tour. Later, he returns and she decides to follow him. A break for the camera, they are both gone.
14h45 they are here. 15h they are gone. 15h45 they returned then he is gone.
She stays. Her behaviour is funny. Tits are always moving. Now she alights near the nest box, on the birch and stay there, very still, comfortable. She tidies up her feathers lengthily. Her feathers puffed. I wonder if she nods off when I see her trough the telephoto lens.
Suddenly he arrives and the calm end. She wakes up. He seems happy and sings at the top of his voice, the cap up.
They will be gone only half an hour at 16h45. They stayed almost all the day.
17h45: a nice greenfinch sings in the poplar, in the sun it is very beautiful.
Spring is coming!
