The two
parents are very present. The father sings and calls his chicks. He
takes a
long time before distributing the meal that he holds in his beak.
A
spider
this morning.
The mother
stays near the entry of the nest.
At 9h37 a chick climbed
at the entry of the nest. One sees his small head at the
entry.
But he gives up and returns in the nest.
Little
devil is well and always eats like four. The parents serve him more
than the
others. Is this thanks to the beak's yellow border that the others have
now lost
a little?
The mother stays besides and the father calls without slackening. This day will be probably that of the exit. However, these chicks do not seem yet big enough. They were born on April 28 and they thus have 21 days (including the hatching day) it is the normal day of exit.
Morning before take off.

It looks rather high!
14h18 Number one
prepares. Lengthily. At 14h22 he launches out.
Not very stable on his
legs. He is on the birch.
Number 1 flies away very
quickly towards the right and seems to descend. We seek him in vain. We
do not
see him any more. The parents did not accompany him.
14h23 Number 2 prepares
and leaves at 14h31.
Number two lands on the birch.
Not
yet
quite assured, little Number 2 is climbed higher on the willow.
One of the parents does
not leave him. Then Number 2 flies away higher. And we lose sight of
him.
We
think
that Number 1 and 2 went down to the inner garden. We do not hear them
very a
long time. The parents are with them.
The
mother
returns alone, to nourish the last two.
15h05 new appearance of Number 3. The mother leaved. He leaves alone.
The living
portrait of his/her father, isn't?
Number 3 well hidden.
Number
3
remains 3/4 of hour on the balcony. He calls.
His/her
mother passes but does not nourish him. He ends up flying away.
Probably down, to the inner garden.
Last
year
we heard during 3/4 of an hour the repeated calls of little ones which
initially assembled on the balcony above and remained together. Then
all the
family left together. This year they left ones after the other and
number
At
17h,
great agitation and cries of terrified birds on the balcony. A magpie
chases a
little one on the floor. It is harassed by sparrows , by a passing
great tit and…
by me. It does not renounce readily. It roosts besides and looks at me
and
waits. Eventually it leaves. The youngster regains the heights. There
are many
magpies in the neighborhood and we have already seen them attack nests
of
sparrows.
In
the evening,
very strong and cold rains.
Number 4 is, unfortunately, unable to fly. The wing's feathers have not completely fletched yet.
We put him back in the nest
several times, but
we will find it dead in the morning
of the 23.
The next days, we saw them several times on the balcony.
